How can i view upcoming public ice skating session information/schedules?
To view our full public ice skating schedule, visit the CALENDARS tab on our website, and then select the PUBLIC ICE SKATING calendar option.  You can also view the full online calendar/schedule by clicking HERE.
how can i purchase tickets for public ice skating?
In the wake of COVID-19, Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex began utilizing a pre-purchase ticketing platform for all activities that previously operated in a 'pay at the door' format--public ice skating included.  All tickets (including admission, rental skates, and ice scooter rentals) must now be purchased in advance through this ticketing platform.  A PURCHASE TICKETS button is available on the main public ice skating page of our website, but you can also access that website by clicking HERE.
what safety measures and additional protocols are being utilized in the wake of covid-19?
The health and safety of our patrons and staff has always been the top priority of our organization, and we have not only adopted all required safety protocols required of us by New York State, but have exceeded many such requirements.  Some key protocols that are being adopted for public ice skating are as follows;
  • Reduced occupancy for the entire Iceplex facility, including occupancy restrictions for all public ice skating sessions.
  • Contactless ticket purchasing through our online ticketing platform.
  • Increased cleaning and sanitization of all areas of our facility, rental ice skates, and ice scooters.
  • Mask requirement for all public ice skating attendees.

To view the entire Iceplex Reopening plan, which includes a detailed description of all COVID related protocols, click HERE.
what size rental skates do you have available?
We have a large inventory of rental skates, in both hockey and figure skate styles.  Size ranges for our rental skates run from a Youth 7, to an adult 15.
what are ice scooters?
Ice scooters are a skating aid designed for young children to utilize while on the ice (pictured above--red scooters being used by children ice skating).  They are a great tool for any child with limited ice skating skills (beginner to novice) to utilize while on the ice, giving them the confidence, and ability to skate on their own.  Ice scooter rentals are available for all public ice skating sessions, and can be added to your order when purchasing tickets through our online ticketing platform.
how long does each public ice skating session last?
All public ice skating sessions are one and a half hours in length.
What amenities are available to public ice skating attendees?
The Iceplex offers a wide range of amenities to all visitors of the facility.  Some worth mentioning are;

  • Ample parking in our expansive lot
  • A large inventory of high end rental skates
  • Ample changing areas
  • A heated rink side seating area
  • A state of the art lighting system, which is set to music and utilized for all public ice skating sessions
  • Heated lobby viewing areas overlooking our public ice skating rink
  • Complimentary fiberoptic guest wifi
  • On-site storage locker rentals
my child (or myself) are not great skaters--do you have a program available to teach ice skating?
As a matter of fact, we do!  Our world-class Skating 101 Program is designed to teach the fundamentals of ice skating to people of all ages.  The program runs year round, takes place over an 8-week period (classes meet once per week), and has taught thousands of Rochesterians how to skate over the years.  Learn more about this popular program by clicking HERE.
ARE there any age restrictions for attending public ice skating?
No, there are no age restrictions to attend our public ice skating sessions!  Young children who may not have the ability to skate on their own are welcome to hit the ice with loved ones, and we even offer ice scooter rentals for these children (see 'what are ice scooters' above for additional information.

For public skating admission age ranges, we use the following age ranges for each admission ticket:
  • Youth = 12 & Under
  • Adult = 13 & Over
  • Senior = 55 & Over
DO I NEED TO PURCHASE A TICKET IF I AM NOT SKATING (BUT ATTENDING WITH SKATERS)?
Only customers that are ice skating need to purchase a ticket.  Those attending the Iceplex with others that are skating (ie: family members) and will only be watching are not required to purchase a ticket.
SKATER RESPONSIBILITY CODE
SKATER RESPONSIBILITY CODE
Ice skating is for fun and enjoyment for everyone.  Skating can be enjoyed in many ways.  Regardless of your level of skill, there are elements of risk in ice skating.  Use common sense, show courtesy to others, and anticipate dangerous situations before they arise. The following guidelines are some basic elements of common sense and courtesy.

1.         Always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid other skaters.
2.         While on the ice, keep moving.  Don't stop where you obstruct other skaters. Don't skate in groups.
3.         People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid hitting them or disrupting them.
             *  No speeding
            *  No weaving
            *  No roughness
            *  No snowball or other throwing
4.         Keep exits clear. Before getting on the ice, look for oncoming skaters. Do not sit on the dasher boards.
5.         Don't carry children or other items while skating.  No eating, drinking, or smoking on the ice.
6.         Rink equipment can be dangerous.  Stay off the ice when resurfacing is in progress.
7.         Do not go on the ice without skates.  Do not wear skates in the stands.
8.         Obey the monitors.  Report hazards to the monitors.
 9.         Respect the ice.  Please do not litter or use foul language.

This is just a partial list.  There are elements of risk that common sense and personal awareness can help reduce.  You are ultimately responsible for your personal safety.
Use caution, and skate in control.  Respect other skaters.  The rink's monitors cannot guarantee our safety and will not protect you from injury.  It is part of your responsibility to avoid other skaters and hazards.  Failure to use good judgment, skate responsibility, or follow the Responsibility Code will result in the loss of skating privileges.
