MONROE COMMUNITY SPORTS CENTRE CORPORATION SEEKS PROPOSALS FOR NEW RESTAURANT OPERATIONS PARTNER2/20/2023
Monroe Community Sports Centre Corporation’s (currently named Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex) Executive Director Christopher Woodworth, officially announced a Request for Proposals (RFP), for a new operator of the sports and entertainment facility’s restaurant and bar.
Built in 1998, MCSCC has seen substantial growth over the last decade, and is now seeking a new restaurant partner to support its vision and growth as one of the premier multi-use sports and entertainment centers in North America. Through its industry leading operational model, world class amenities, and central location in the Northeast United States, MCSCC has become a highly sought after location for hosting large scale events—contributing to its annual foot traffic of 1.7 million visitors. Unlike seasonal sports and entertainment facilities, MCSCC’s programming, partners, and events, results in a unique opportunity of 360 operational days each year. “Our facility has seen significant growth in the last year, and our team has many exciting new initiatives that will be launching in the coming months,” said Chris Woodworth, Executive Director of MCSCC. “This is a very exciting time for us, and an amazing opportunity for the addition of a new partner to join us, as we continue to grow in the coming years.” Full information regarding this opportunity, including the formal RFP document request, please visit www.mcscc.co. February 2, 2023 [Rochester, NY] The 3rd Annual Rochester Cup Challenge youth hockey tournament, produced by Gene Harrington Tournaments, is set to take place this weekend at Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex. Over 1,600 players and family members will be converging on Rochester, from 42 teams across the US and Canada, representing CO, CT, OH, MA, NY, NJ, PA, WV, ON and QC.
In total, 13 teams from Ontario, and 1 from Quebec will be participating in this event—more than any tournament that has taken place in Rochester since the COVID-19 pandemic. “The Rochester Cup Challenge is a clear indicator that sports tourism from our northern friends is coming back strong,” said Chris Woodworth, Executive Director at Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex. “While ice hockey tournaments have seen an incredible rebound from the effects of COVID, participation from Canadian teams has been lagging. The strong showing of teams from Canada for this event is a sign that we will soon see an influx of teams from Canada at sporting events in the North Eastern United States.” Based on the Destinations International Economic Impact Calculator, it is estimated that the Rochester Cup Challenge will generate $538,896 in direct visitor spending and $371,106 in indirect spending, for a total economic impact of $910,002.
