Over 1,200 ice hockey players and family members will come together this weekend for the October Madness tournament. The event, which is put on by SuperSeries AAA Hockey, will take place at Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex and runs October 28th through October 30th.
This is the first of two events taking place in Rochester this Winter by the events company based out of Livingston, New Jersey. This event attracts U.S. teams from NY, PA, MI, CT, TX, MA, NJ, RI, IL, CO, AL, TN and MD, as well as Canadian teams from the Provinces of Ontario and Quebec. The 30 out of town teams equates to roughly 1,130 out of town guests that will reside in local hotels, dine in local restaurants and shop in local stores over a three day period. Based on the National Association of Sports Commissions Economic Impact Assumptions, this event will have an economic impact on the local community in the range of $320,000 and $520,000.
