All proceeds benefit Holy Childhood. Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex Hosting Two Free Hockey Events For Children Over Holiday Break12/15/2016
Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex announced plans today to host two of their popular TRY HOCKEY FOR FREE events over the December holiday break. The events take place at their 170,000 square foot multi-sport facility, which is located on the Monroe Community College campus.
A co-ed event will take place on December 27th from 10:00am to 11:00pm. A girls only event will take place on December 29th from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, and is being run in partnership with the Rochester Edge Girls Hockey organization. The Iceplex runs multiple Try Hockey For Free events throughout the calendar year. These events are designed for children ages 5 to 9 to try ice hockey at no cost and in a positive environment focused on fun. Participants are provided full equipment and skates at no cost and take to the ice for jam packed, memorable experience. On ice instruction is provided by the Iceplex Hockey staff, along with volunteer coaches and players from the local area.. No skating or hockey experience is required, however re-registration is required for all participants as space is limited. First Night Rochester, the area's largest family friendly New Years Eve Party, takes place at Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex on December 31st from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. The 2017 event features many new activities, all designed for families to enjoy the New Years Eve in a memorable, safe environment. Multiple ice skating rinks with various themes, a turf party zone with bounce houses, live footage from Times Square on a 40 foot drive in screen, hourly countdowns, prizes, giveaways and other fun activities. On-site entertainment will be provided by Flyin' Brian and Miss Understood of Party Productions, including music, magic and balloons. Food and beverage are available on site at the full service Bill Gray's Restaurant and Tap Room located inside the Iceplex, with overlooking views of the party zone and the Decades Skating Rink. Quick snacks and beverages are also available at the new Iceplex Concessions, located in the lower lobby at ice level. A $185.00 Stay & Play package is available which includes admission to the event for up to six people, and a suite style room at the Residence Inn Rochester. This value packed package includes early check in on 12/31, late check out on 1/1, access to their indoor pool and a short trip to the Iceplex. Over 1,450 ice hockey players and family members will come together this weekend for the Rochester Red Lamp tournament. The annual event put on by ONE Hockey, will take place at Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex and runs December 2nd through the 4th.
In total, 38 youth hockey teams will compete, of which 35 teams traveled in from out of town. This event attracts U.S. teams from NY and PA, as well as 30 teams from the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. The 35 out of town teams equates to roughly 1,320 out of town guests that will reside in local hotels, dine in local restaurants and shop in local stores over a three day period. Based on the National Association of Sports Commissions Economic Impact Assumptions, this event will have an economic impact on the local community in the range of $475,000 and $575,000.
