Over 2,100 ice hockey players and family members will come together this holiday weekend for the Empire State Cup. The event, which is put on by MyHockey Tournaments, will take place at Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex and runs January 13th through the 15th.
In total, 50 youth hockey teams will compete, of which 45 teams traveled in from all over North America. This event attracts U.S. teams from NY, FL, PA, NJ, MD, OH, MI, IL and VA, as well as Canadian teams from the Province of Ontario. The 45 out of town teams equates to roughly 1,750 out of town guests that will reside in local hotels, dine in local restaurants and shop in local stores over a three day period. Based on the National Association of Sports Commissions Economic Impact Assumptions, this event will have an economic impact on the local community in the range of $475,000 and $675,000.
